TREASURY MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION (TMC)

This is an entry level certification programme which is expected to be completed by all new entrants to the Treasury Function. The Certification course will be conducted by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in partnership with FMDA. It will however be an alternative to the internationally accredited ACI Dealership Examination.

A dealer who has the ACI certification and not the TMC will however be required to complete the Ethics Course of the FMDA. The training programme will include but will not be restricted to the following topics at the end of which the candidate will be required to write a qualification exam;

  1. Foreign Exchange
  2. Fixed Income
  3. Money Markets
  4. Commodities
  5. Derivatives and Equities
  6. Ethics

INTERMEDIATE MODULE


INTERMEDIATE MODULE

The intermediate level is a modular based programme for senior dealers within Treasury. Dealers taking the Intermediate Course can chose to complete only individual modules of the progamme based on product lines for specialization. However, Dealers could chose to complete all the modules in the intermediate programme to gain expertise in all the treasury products. The training programme will be along the following product lines at the end of which the candidate will be required to write a qualification exam.

  5. Derivatives and Equities

ADVANCED MODULE

The advanced module is a non-examination programme for Chief Dealers and Treasurers in the certification process. Certification will be issued upon attaining a minimum number of course points after completion of a series of courses/training. This will be a mandatory continuous programme (MCP) supervised by the FMDA, however award of certificates will be done once a year.

EXCEPTIONS


  • EXCEPTION 1
  • EXCEPTION 2

    Dealers who have completed a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience by December 30, 2014 in the Treasury department of a financial institution will be exempted from the intermediate module.

  • EXCEPTION 3

    Where a person has the minimum of 3 years Treasury experience, but is not in the Treasury Function during the exemption window and does not apply for exemption during the period, the FMDA Certification Structure will apply.

  • EXCEPTION 4

    At the implementation of this framework, all current dealers with minimum of 3 years Treasury experience will be awarded the “FMDA Experienced Exception Certification (FMDA EEC)” which will exempt them from specific levels of the normal certification exercise.
